There are a few things that are a must do during the summer months in Maryland.

1. Go Hiking at PrettyBoy Reservoir

The 79.73 mi² area has many different hiking paths that you can travel through the woods and along the water. There are perfect spots for fishing. However, one must be patient though because the fish are not always willing to bite. The reservoir has perfect rock formations that you can sit on and just enjoy the sounds of nature, water, and the sun. I cannot forget to mention the dam. Yes, the stairs down to the trail are not everyone’s favorite; however it is worth traveling down them to enjoy the feeling of the mist from the dam. PrettyBoy is one of the prettiest places to go hiking and is a must for when you are feeling like adventuring.

2. Go to High Rock and Make Your Mark

High Rock is located just off the Appalachian Trail and the rocks at the top are covered with the marks of travelers before. The view from the rock’s peak can be described as breathtaking. Just take a day to enjoy the simplicity that the rock creates and disconnect from the digital world that has consumed us. Before you leave, make sure you make your mark in some way or another so your friends can do almost like a “Where’s Waldo” search for your distinct mark. Make it a game among friends.

3. Go to Downtown Annapolis and Explore

There is so much to do in the capital of Maryland. You can go visit the Naval Academy and on occasion see the wonderful airshow put on by the Blue Angels. Or go down to Sandy Point State Park and enjoy fishing, crabbing, swimming, or just sightseeing. There is always the option of going on a tour of the historic parts of the city that were around during the colonial era.

4. Go to an Orioles Game at Camden Yards

There is nothing better than a summer night at the ballpark, especially when the Orioles are winning. The atmosphere is alive and fun. Everyone is enjoying themselves and that is one of the great things about baseball, it brings strangers together. The ball flies farther in the summer sun and that makes for a very interesting game. Speaking of sun, the sunsets through the stands are beautiful and most certainly picture-worthy. There is nothing better than a night at the yard.

5. Go to Ocean City for a Week or Just a Weekend

Yes, every year you go to Ocean City and do the same things. But it is a tradition of Marylanders and it is a must do. It is time to soak up the sun, enjoy the waves, and spend time with people that you are close to. Have adventures and go somewhere that you have never gone before in all the times that you have gone down to the beach. Of course enjoy the nightlife of the boardwalk and people watch all the people that inhabit late at night. Also, while you are at the beach venture to Assateague Island and enjoy time with the wild ponies. It is something that you will always remember.

Enjoy your Maryland summer and do NOT let the weather hold you back!
