Summer is here and everyone is itching to go on an adventure. During summer, most of us have much more free time because we are out of school. We love the thought of sitting around the house all summer and staying in bed, but in reality that gets old fast and you'll want to do something! So here are a few ideas of places you can go in and around Georgia for a day adventure.

1. Mount Yonah

This little adventure is located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. It is in north Georgia, so it can be a day trip reached from anywhere in the state! This is a great place to go for a hike. While hiking up this summit, you can enjoy an extravagantly beautiful scenery while you hike. They also offer camping if you choose to make a weekend of it. Call ahead to make sure you're not hiking on a training day!

2. Cloudland Canyon State Park

This state park is located close to the Georgia and Tennessee state line. Near the state line there are tons of things to do, most things revolving around Lookout Mountain. There are cottages, campsites, golf, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, caving, biking and so much more. This can be a trip with a friend or a weekend away with the family. Plus, everyone loves a cave tour.

3. A Sunflower Patch In Cumming, Georgia

An activity in the sun that brings the same joy as going to a pumpkin patch. There may not be a hay ride, but picking flowers is always fun. At this flower patch, you can buy your own or go out and pick them! If you love to pick your own flowers, try picking your own berries at the Southern Belle Farm in McDonough, Ga or Whitley Farms in Sharpsburg, Georgia. Berry picking is a fun, southern activity and kids love it!!

4. Lake Lanier or Lake Allatoona

A day at the lake is always fun. You can pack up the portable grill, hotdogs and hamburgers, and some snacks. Make a day of it. Relax on the beach and when everyone is tired of the water you can hop out and eat your lunch at the picnic tables. There are tons of lakes all throughout the state, so don't limit yourself to one or two!

5. Blue Cove Hideaway

This is a beautiful little quarry located in McMinn, Tennessee. Throughout Tennessee, there are tons of little swims holes throughout the entire state. Even in Georgia, there are swim holes such as Blue Hole Falls.

Wherever the road leads you, always remember to be safe and let someone know where you are! Summer adventures are always great, and they don't have to cost a lot. And above all, always where sunscreen when you're going to spend time outside

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
