If you're not one of the lucky ones going on a wild adventure or relaxing getaway this Spring Break, you might be wondering how to make the best of your week.

What you may not realize is, this week could be a blessing in disguise. After weeks stressing at school and surviving the cold winter months, your body is desperate for a break. Make the best of it and make this week your Spring Break Detox. Try these 5 easy detox ideas to refresh and rejuvenate your body this spring break.

1. Cut the sugar.

Like most college students, you've likely been knocking back sugary Starbucks drinks, energy bars and fast food just to get through midterms. Now that your home, there's no need to stress and reach for the sugar craving. Hit up your favorite grocery store, plan some healthy meals and snacks, and stay away from the sugary snack aisle. Sugar and stress go together like peanut butter and jelly. Cut both of them this week.

2. Give low-carb a try.

Along with sugar, carbohydrates, especially the refined and processed kind, can be a major problem. They're hard on our body and our digestive systems. Switch to healthy fats, like avocado, coconut oil and nuts, along with proteins like grass-fed beef, organic chicken and fish. Hit up Pinterest for delicious recipe ideas. There's nothing that says low-carb can't taste great. (Bonus, think of all the bacon!)

3. Get outside.

There's nothing a little Vitamin D can't fix. If you somewhere the sun retreats during the winter months, you might be fighting SAD (Seasonal affective disorder.) Between the stress of midterms and cramming for last minute projects, you might have chosen to skip the gym or your morning run. Take this week to get back on track. Take your dog for a walk. Hit the beach or the lake. Jog around your neighborhood. Absorbing Vitamin D from sun exposure boosts your immune system, increases energy levels and even improves DNA repairs.

4. Start dry brushing.

Another detox favorite, dry brushing is the popular morning detox ritual you have to try. Using an all-natural, stiff bristle brush, you brush your body in long sweeping or circular motions. The brushing helps to exfoliate, improve circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system. Some even claim it helps to remove cellulite over time, and who doesn't want that? The lymphatic system is one of the most important and often forgotten body detoxification systems. Dry brushing is a great way to give it a little TLC, and feel great in the process.

5. Start your morning with apple cider vinegar.

If you haven't heard of the healing powers of apple cider vinegar, you are missing out. The miracle tonic helps to reduce sugar cravings, regulate blood sugar, boosts the immune system, and detoxes the body thanks to its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Start your day with a morning detox cocktail of water, ACV, lemon, ginger and honey. Remember to buy ACV with "the mother," since that's where all the good stuff is. Bragg's Organic is popular go-to brand; you can even find it at Walmart. Drink it every morning and by the end of spring break, you'll find yourself refreshed, refocused, and ready to take on the rest of the year!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
