Because We Know You Missed the Prep Course.

5 Step Job Fair Prep

Midterm papers are piling up, lab reports are due, and homeworker becomes harder every day. With the high stress from school, friends, and everything else in life, there is a dangling thought in all college student’s mind. What am I going to do this summer? And even worse for those seniors, what am I going to do when I graduate?

This dull question comes drifting back and forth in our mind. We procrastinate thinking about it more and more. This summer we know working the Grille at the corner isn’t going to cut. This summer calls for the real thing. A real job.

We find ourselves wondering to a big room, loaded with tons of table, and eager minds. Yes, we find ourselves at the Job Fair.

Now getting ourselves there was not easy. There was a lot of prep work in order for us to show off the very best.

Step 1. Create Resume.

The resume is a huge deal. It must incorporate all your best qualities and qualifications. There is a ton of pressure placed on the resume. Suggestion, spend at least an hour picking a font.

Step 2. Research

Research the companies that are going to be at the fair. Knowing a little bit about who will be there is helpful. This way you won’t spend 20 minutes listening to an airspace technician when you were aiming for the Nike marketing rep at the table next to him.

Step 3. Practice

Come up with a quick introduction about yourself. Include some key factors employees might be interested or a nice catch phrase.

Step 4. Dress to Impress

They may say “business casual” on the flyer, but dress to impress. First impressions go a long way and that can start by looking nice.

Step 5. Kill It

Go in there confident and brave and get that job!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
