First You Gotta Decide To Go

I like actually working out but it takes me a bit to get to the enjoyable part. Working out is good for you. It keeps you healthy, in shape, and can be fun if done right! It's all great for you, whether its going to the gym, going on a run, a pick-up sports game, or a hike. As fun as it can be, there is a workout process that I go through almost every time I workout:

1. The Decision.

Working out sounds good in theory, but the process of getting there is difficult. Naps and Netflix are so much easier than working out. In order to workout I would have to put workout clothes on, get a water, and make sure I have enough time to get there and shower after.

2. Motivation.

Once I have decided that I have the time to workout, I start motivating myself to get there. Starting with the positive affirmations: I can do this. It'll be fun. All I have to do it put on athletic wear and go outside.

2.5. The True Motivation.

Motivation part 2 is sometimes the more effective motivator. Its my real in the moment purpose for going. Examples include: I want to look good in a bikini, I ate entire row of cookies, maybe my soulmate is at the gym, I told my friend I would meet her so I can't really bail. This motivation is more immediate but also goes hand in hand with positive motivation.

3. Getting Going… Before You Back Out.

Now I have decided to go, all I have to do is get outside and head to the gym, or to my car to drive to trail or field where I will do something active. I’ll just grab the leash and my dog and head out into the sunlight, but I better move quickly before my bed captures me again.

4. The Workout.

Finally I have made it to the workout. I start and I am on fire. I wonder why I don’t work out all the time. I am in the zone, working hard, sweating, feeling the pain. I feel great and am doing something good for me.

5. The Next Day Burn.

The final step is the following day (or days) burn. I mean if you’re not in pain did you even work hard?

The process of getting to the workout spot is the hardest part. So decide to go, be your own motivation, get there and remember how great you feel during the work out and the burn of hard work you feel after.

You can do this, working out is fun and good for you. Plus, if you love food then it makes the gym even more important! So go out and get your workout on!

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
