5 Stages You Go Through When Taking a Little

When considering taking a little, every girl goes through various stages of extreme love, hate, and eventual insanity toward the lucky girl they have set their eyes on during rush. Many girls even go as far as to craft months or weeks in advance to prepare before big/little reveal to make sure everything is just the way they pictured it would be. Let's face it, it's pretty much the equivalent of getting married and giving your heart to this other person, but via sparkly letters on a cooler and a painted canvas -- or maybe six of them. No one really anticipates the stress that comes from taking a little, but when all is said and done, you present this special girl with a million goodies and, pretty much, a piece of your soul.

1. I'm so excited stage.

Your first initial reaction to your little-to-be is always, "This is like having a child, you just have to spoil them." Little do you know, this is going to be a tough ride (no pun intended). You start wondering what Reveal will be like, and hoping that it is just as magical for this lucky girl as you envisioned it would be.

2. Over planning stage.

The days, weeks, and months of searching Pinterest have finally come to good use. Boards have been made, plans have been set, and countless crafty images have been saved for future reference. And, yes, all 1,000 images downloaded on your phone of canvases with catchy sayings and picture frames made completely out of rhinestones are totally relevant to this stage. You're starting to question if you have a Pinning problem and if you should seek therapy as a result.

3. My poor bank account stage.

Here, you start to have slight remorse for spending all the money you saved up for eventual spending costs at school. Because, let's face it, being artsy is so much more important than being able to buy groceries. Your debit card is practically screaming in your back pocket, asking you not to swipe. But 15 mini-bottles of acrylic paint, 10 canvases, and another pack of paint brushes later, you leave the craft store feeling a tad more anxious than you were before you even pulled into the parking lot.

4. I'm in way over my head stage.

At this point, countless hours have been poured into so many projects they are starting to blend together in your mind. Late night painting sessions that were once fun have now made you extremely cranky in the morning, and left you wondering why you're still doing this. You have now uttered the words, "I am in way over my head," at least a hundred times. Your best friends and parents have noticed an unusual amount of glitter on your hands and have been giving you that weird look -- you know the one, it looks like they're all wondering if you're going through a Ke$ha stage. You may have reached the point of insanity, but you've chosen to forge on and make sure you're the best big, ever.

5. You better love me stage.

You've gotten really antsy, and its nearing the end. You are so close to seeing the reaction on her face (and all her social media outlets) of your hard work. The frustration and excitement are so real that you've come to the conclusion that, "If she doesn't like it, well, too freakin' bad." But we all know those weren't your exact words. You've convinced your whole family that those hours you spent locked in your room crafting were really for a good cause and, no, you weren't just watching too much Netflix again.

No matter how much money you spent, or hours you lost, painting those very last details on your Lilly painted letters, you know that everything you did was worth it when you see the look on her face when she finds out that her favorite girl made sure to put her favorite color on everything she received. Your panic and anxiety quickly turn into joy as you see just how much listening to your new little has made an impact on both of your lives. But, overall, knowing you now have a person to watch over, advise, and love with all your heart as a friend, and more importantly, a sister, is worth every emotional stage you've endured.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
