I WANT HER.

The 5 Stages Of Finding Your Rush Crush
Emma Smith

On college campuses all across America, cheerful young women are lining up outside of sorority houses in search of finding loving sisters to spend their remaining college years with. Behind those closed doors, the recruiters inside are just as nervous as the potential new members outside. We are searching for the perfect girls to add to our legacy of sisterhood. In the midst of this, I developed a head over heels crush. No, not with the cute boy from class or the dog on frat park, but I found a rush crush. This relationship is unlike any other that you will experience. A rush crush is a girl that you want to join your house more than anything in the whole world. She is a woman who you would cry over, immensely, if she does not join your houseShe embodies the values of your chapter. She is perfect in every way, from her personality to her beauty both inside and out. Rush crushes are a hard concept to explain, but when they happen, you just know it was meant to be. A rush crush, just like any other relationship comes with a roller coaster of emotions. Here are the five stages of finding your rush crush.

1. Denial

How can anyone be this perfect? There is no way. How do we have so many things in common? Could you be my soulmate?

2. Stalking

Your perfection is unmatched, so please tell me why your Facebook is on private. No worries, I'll check your Instagram. Dang, locked out. BUT, thank you for having your Vsco link in your bio. YES! I AM IN. Oh my goodness your prom pictures are gorgeous! Lets see your Spotify? Venmo? Youtube Channel? Basically, I should work for the FBI.

3. Anticipation

Girl, I hope you know that you have been on my mind since the open house round of recruitment. I am greatly awaiting your arrival in the next round. I want everyone to meet you and love you just as much as I do. Please come back.

... please

4. Fear

Every round that goes by that I don't see you makes me so incredibly scared. I want you. I need you. Where are you?

5. Acceptance

YAY! I am so glad you came back and accepted a bid to our house. Little do you know I have been rallying for you for the past two weeks. I promise this is a decision you will not regret. Welcome home little nugget. SO happy to have you.

But if you do decide to accept a bid to a different house, just know that I fully respect your decision. You are a great woman who would make a wonderful addition to any chapter (I just hope it is mine).

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
