Oh summer vacation, we have all been waiting for the months we can relax, see friends from home, and finally make some money. A lot of families also take this time to spend a week together and adventure someplace where mom thinks everyone will enjoy. Yes, of course you are grateful for your family and maybe people don’t have opportunities to go wherever you’re off too…but we all go through the following five stages.
1. Excitement
Finally! It’s time to escape for a few days, no more work or binge watching Netflix. It’s your time to focus on yourself. Your plans include; laying on a beach, meeting new people, making memorable moments, and taking the cutest picture to post on Instagram.
But…. then it hits you. Stage two.
2. Boredom
You forgot all about the fact you have to cram in a car for six plus hours with your siblings and try to get along. This is supposed to be your time, but instead you’re timing how long you have left in the car. You finally make it to your location until you realize that your mom really doesn’t care about the cute boy on the beach. Instead, you are wishing that your best friend had work off to come with you.
3. FOMO
Yes, the first few hours on the beach were relaxing but then you check your social media accounts. What a mistake. Your feeds are filled with posts of your friends taking cute candids ready for a night out. But, hey—your dad bought you an ice cream!
4. Annoyance
Okay, you love your family but being crammed in a hotel room for three days is beginning to hit you. Not to mention your sister snores in your sleep and your parents wake up for coffee at 7 a.m. What is happening at 7 a.m.—seriously?
5. Relief
Congrats! You made it, another year is finally in the books—and by books I mean your mom posted pictures on Facebook. Although thinking about having to go to work the next day is upsetting, you’re ready to get back to life.
