Here in Wisconsin, people get pretty darn excited about warm weather. The second it hits 40, you'll see everyone come out from the comfort of their homes and walk, hike, bike, shop, you name it. When us Wisconsinites are miraculously blessed with a day (or week, if we're lucky) in winter that's fifty degrees... You could say that we all feel as if we've been reborn. Here are the five stages I go through when we have an unseasonably warm day in the winter:
1. Shock
Is this really happening? There's no way this weather is real.
2. Awe
Yep, it's actually happening. The air doesn't hurt your face. And it's awesome. Time to sit outside all day and bask in the sunshine.
3. Wonder
Why is this happening? Is global warming the culprit? Are we accidentally getting excited about climate change?
4. Doubt
This is probably just a huge tease; it'll be snowing in a few days.
5. Fear
Oh God, the cold is going to come back. It's going to come back and freeze our hearts once again.
6. Acceptance
You realize that chances are, the warmth is (sadly) not here to stay. Be patient, Wisconsinite. Summer is worth the wait.
