The 5 Stages Of Coming Home From College For The Summer

You did it! You survived a full year of college and it's time to go home for the summer. You get to see all your friends back home and eat real food for a solid three months! It's a miracle! However, leaving college can be bittersweet for many people. You get to see your best friends from high school and your family, but that means that you also have to say good-bye to all of your college friends. Here are all the stages of moving back home after college:

1. Excitement

You have a countdown of the number of days until move-out day and you couldn't be more excited to get home and see the familiar faces you've been missing all year long.

2. Sadness

You hand in the key to your dorm and every moment you've had in that 15x15 ft. room flashes before your eyes, leaving behind all of the good times and friends you've made throughout the year.

3. Tranquility

You finally get home and sink into your queen size tempur-pedic bed. The twin xl in your dorm has nothing on the comfort of your bed at home.

4. Annoyance

It's only a matter of time before your parents start to annoy you. After a couple of days of being back your parents start keeping close tabs on you, questioning your every move. Where are you going? Who's going to be there? When will you be back? After nine months of absolute freedom it's not easy to jump back into the whole living with parents thing again.

4. Boredom

In your head you pictured yourself hanging out with your friends and going on adventures every day over the summer, but in reality it's the second day of summer break and the only 'people' you've interacted with all day is your dogs.

5. Depression

After a week of summer you have 47 cents left in your checkings account and no form of income. It's time to get a job. Hunting for summer jobs is probably the most awful thing because you have to apply for jobs that you really don't want to do. You want to be tanning by the pool with your friends not handing out Happy Meals in the McDonalds drive-through.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
