Ah, cleaning out our closets - the unavoidable, but necessary chore we all have to do at some point. Whether it's because we're getting ready to go back to college, we need to make room for some new purchases, or simply because our moms told us to, the reasons for cleaning out our closets (and dressers) never seem to end. Luckily, there are only five stages that come with cleaning your room.
1. Bargaining
Typically this is how it, you'll try and bargain with your parents to extend the "deadline" they set for you to clean out your dresser and closet for as long as possible.
2. Anger + Regret
As you begin to clean out your closet, you turn around to notice your whole room looks like a tornado came through. You can't help but regret starting this task and be angry at your parents for this task, as you not only have to go through all your clothes but also clean up your room.
3. Denial
Whenever I clean out my dresser or closet, I always am in denial that I have so much clothes, yet nothing to wear. There's no way I have this much stuff...I'm one person!
4. Depression
If you're anything like me, you're a sentimental person which means all your clothes have memories that come with them. Tossing aside old clothes is like throwing away memories. Just remind yourself you will make more memories with the clothes you keep and new ones with the new clothes you buy down the road.
5. Acceptance
Cleaning your closet stinks, but after a nice stroll down memory lane and some actual progress has been made, you start to accept that you need to just do it. It'll be over and done with before you know it!
