In our daily lives, we rely on coffee. It happens to the best of us. We need it to keep going. It is considered a drug, and sometimes you'll get addicted to drugs. With any addiction comes the 5 stages to get you out of this deep dark addiction. You can relapse and just end up back at the very beginning, with just one little sip of coffee or one small iced coffee.

Stage One: Denial

You wake up in the morning, and you will tell yourself you don’t need it. Deep down, you know you aren’t totally over coffee. You won't admit it at first that you actually need it. You tend to lie to yourself that you can continue on you daily life without it, but we all know that's questionable.

Stage Two: Anger

The anger comes in the form of headaches. It’s almost as if you can’t even keep your hair up and eyes open anymore, and you just want to sit in a room with no light, forever. No matter how much Advil you take, the headache just never seems to go away and with every ache you get more and more aggravated. With every moment, you feel more and more on the edge, and you could just break at any moment. If someone get's you at the wrong time, you could just snap.

Stage Three: Bargaining

Then you start to bargain with yourself. While you’re out running your errands, you can see the Dunkin Donuts sign in the distance and your first instinct is to stop and get yourself a medium iced coffee with two sugars and one cream. At first, you tell yourself you don’t need it, but then you start to convince yourself a small iced coffee won’t kill you. This is where the bargaining will take you a few steps back all the way to stage one, all the way back to the very beginning.

Stage Four: Depression

Depression hits you hard. You start moping around because the lack of caffeine is really getting to you. It’s almost as if you aren’t your peppy self anymore. You miss you’re true best friend, coffee. It never let you down and you miss it. It's truly understandable. It's like the glue in your life, it keeps you all together, in one piece and not all over the place.

Stage Five: Acceptance

You’ve accepted, You will always be addicted to caffeine. No matter how hard you try, you always seem to come to the same conclusion that you need caffeine and coffee in your life. You just can't live without it. It gets you out of bed everyday and keeps you on track.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
