Spring Break is around the corner (thank God), and some of us may be looking for a place to go blow off some steam because this semester has been rough. Luckily, if you live in or are near Washington state during spring break, it's full of great places to go. Here are 5 of my favorites:
1. Seattle
Even though this is a no brainer and some of you are probably rolling your eyes because you live there, Seattle is a great place. It’s a huge city with lots of restaurants and stores to go into. It’s near the water so you can go down to the waterfront and smell that wonderful ocean air (it may be cold but it’s still worth it to go). There are so many museums and attractions to go to that you wouldn’t be able to hit them all in a day. Not only is there all the fun stuff in the city, but there are so many hiking trails in the outskirts of Seattle that are just a short drive away.
2. Vance Creek Bridge
This is an example of a fun hike that is a short drive away from Seattle (An hour and a half is a short drive away right?). This bridge used to be used for trains crossing through the area but it is no longer in use. It’s in the second highest railway bridge in America at 347 feet above a raging river. This spot is definitely for those who are very adventurous and not for those afraid of heights. This bridge is on private property but so many people still go out there to experience the beautiful scene nature has to offer from the bridge.
3. Palouse Falls
For those of you that aren’t as adventurous, Palouse Falls is a great place for you. Nestled on the Eastern side of the state, Palouse Falls offers a gorgeous view as well as a challenging hike. You can get pretty close to the falls without leaving the top of the viewing area, but most people like to climb down into the bowl and swim in the water at the bottom of the falls.
4. Leavenworth
This cute little German town is the best to visit in the winter but it is great all year round. In the town center, there are so many shops, restaurants, and candy stores to go to. My personal favorite is this tiny chocolate shop tucked away in the back of a shop. They sell the best truffles I have ever had in my life. Leavenworth is a great place to go with your family. It is also great to visit if you are looking for a place to just hang out and relax.
5. Walla Walla
For all you wine lovers out there, a great place to be in the southeastern corner of the State. There are so many wineries in the Walla Walla and Tri-Cities areas for you to go on wine tours. As well as in downtown Walla Walla, there is a great area to go, walk around and explore the adorable little town.
Hopefully one of these places sparked one of your interest. Even if you’ve been to these places before, all these places are so easy to enjoy time and time again. Whatever you decide to do for spring break, anything is better that being in class, right?
