5 Spots To Check Out In Rockaway

The Rockaways are home to more than just a beach. If you’ve only spent your days at the beach, you’re missing out on some of the best restaurants and bars around. Pack your bathing suit and a change of clothes for a day that goes beyond just going to the beach. Make sure to save these locations right here!

1. Thai Rock

Authentic home style Thai cuisine in a neighborhood with a primarily Irish population offers an experience in Rockaway like no other. With indoor and outdoor spaces, enjoy a meal, a cocktail and music on a summer day. My favorites are the crispy spring rolls, Thai dumplings and the Pad Kee Maow. It definitely has a kick to it, but it's worth it in each bite. Check them out here!

2. Pico

Pico brings Mexican food right to the heart of Rockaway on 129th Street. Happy hour and specials are always happening here such as $3 bar tacos or the weekend $10 pitchers of mimosas. Maybe you’re just feeling chips and guacamole or maybe you want an entire burrito to call your own. During my trip there, I easily inhaled chips and guacamole as well as the L.A. Burrito. I miss it and I need to go back. Check them out here!

3. Bungalow Bar

This hidden gem is ideal for a night out with family and friends or a pristine summer day to come grab food and drinks with a view. There’s an outdoor deck and a tiki bar. What more could you want? My parents are always sure to get the huckleberry lemonade. As for the food, you're safe getting anything on the menu. You've got fish tacos, fried calamari, burgers, French onion soup, lobster grilled cheese and more! Check them out here!

4. Jameson's Pub

Sometimes you just need wings and a beer. Jameson’s Pub has you covered. With televisions located inside and outside, you won’t miss any of the action when your favorite teams are playing. It’s a neighborhood meetup spot for all ages, but you’re always welcome. There is nothing quite like watching the Ranger game (or Islanders) in a packed bar while picking at some wings and drinking a beer or six with your best buds. Check them out here!

5. Breezy Dogs & Shakes

After a day at the beach, you might be looking for the perfect way to cool off if you don’t feel like swimming that day. Head here for your favorite finger foods, shakes and ice cream. Sometimes, all you need is a cheeseburger and your best friends and that’s totally acceptable. Check them out here!

Make the most out of your day in Rockaway because it has awesome places for you to checkout!

Save these great spots RIGHT HERE to have with you wherever you go!

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

school

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
