If you're anything like me, you need music to listen to while you study. If you don't, there's really no point to studying. (And if you don't listen to music while studying, you're missing out on some surprisingly helpful benefits.) With midterms this week and finals looming in the not-so-distant future, you'll need some awesome studying playlists to get you through those gruelling hours spent at the library. Here are my top five favorite studying playlists that will get even the laziest student through these desperate times:
1. "Downton Abbey"
After binge-watching all of “Downton Abbey” over winter break, I’ve found that I have a personal connection to the theme song. Not only is the song beautiful, it also keeps my mind active without distracting me from my homework. The series’ uplifting score alone can keep your mind awake, allow you to breeze through some notes and make you feel like you’re in turn-of-the-century England all in one.
Best for: readings and note-taking.
2. "Harry Potter Soundtracks"
The Harry Potter soundtrack is much like "Downton Abbey’s": it’s all instrumental, most songs are faster paced to keep you awake and the sense of familiarity will keep you from hitting the “next” button every three minutes. And, since there are so many soundtracks, this playlist will keep you going for 7 hours and 50 minutes straight with no repeats.
Best for: an all-nighter grind.
3. "STUDY VIBES"
For everyday homework, this playlist is my go-to. The tracks are chill and techno that help you focus as well as de-stress. "Low" and "Make You Feel" are my favorite songs on here.
Best for: everyday homework.
4. "Peaceful Piano"
Sometimes, all you need is some classic piano beats to help you get through your biology notes.
Best for: readings, note taking and essay writing.
5. "Christmas Jazz"
Okay, I couldn't end this article without noting my absolute favorite (and festive!!) playlist on Spotify. I tell all my friends that this playlist will even make writing your 20-page marketing report bearable (true story). This jazzy take on your favorite Christmas classics will put you in a good mood and make the end of exams feel all the more close.
Best for: readings, note taking and getting into the holiday spirit!
No matter if you're enduring midterms, finals or even studying for a quiz, these playlists will help you stay awake, keep you focused and will help you absolutely crush your next assignment.
Happy studying!
