5 Spotify Playlists You Should Follow

Music is known to help the heart and soul in many different aspects, whether you are healing from a loss or celebrating a beginning. Researchers have found that music aids listeners in concentrating and paying attention when getting homework done, or getting people pumped up for a fun night out with friends. It has many different functions but one thing is for sure... music has the ability to change a person's mood completely. Whether you listen to it to fall asleep or to go for a run, it will prepare you for whatever you have ahead of you.

Some music programs, like Apple Music and Spotify, have pre-made playlists for certain occasions. On Spotify, specifically, they have a "Browse" section where you can find tons of different playlists made by the workers at Spotify within various categories, like "Focus" (for homework) and "Party" (for girls night out). They even have different sections seasonally for holidays like Christmas carols, and country music or patriotic tunes for Fourth of July barbecues. Here are some playlists that you should follow for any situation that will keep you up-to-date with new music. The best part about the pre-made playlists is that they are added too and changed almost every day!!

Your Favorite Coffeehouse

These tunes are enjoyable and are perfect for a relaxing Sunday when all you want to do is curl up on the couch with a piping hot cup of tea and a blanket.

Hot Country

This playlist is filled with new country tracks that will bring out your inner Southern self. The description in this playlist even tells listeners that it is updated every Friday, unlike some of the others.

Deep Focus

Deep Focus will keep you completely concentrated when you're sitting in the library, cramming for an exam or when you have a huge paper that needs to be done. A great part about this playlist is that it's not the usual focus music, like classical. It's got fantastic rock tunes that aren't too extreme but aren't putting you to sleep.

Hot Rhythmic

These tunes are some of the most famous pop songs on the charts these days. This playlist is great for getting ready for a fun night out on the town.

Mood Booster

Just like I said, music changes moods completely and this playlist proves my point. This playlist has songs that are bound to make you get up and dance even when you're in a bad mood.

Music is good for the heart, whether it's sad and slow or upbeat and happy. If you don't have Spotify, you can use any other music websites to find pre-made playlists for any occasion!

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
