There are so many great things that go hand in hand with living in the south. Ever since I moved to Tennessee from the East Coast last yea,r I was introduced to the many joys of southern living. I was always aware of the southern stereotypes that existed, but without actually experiencing them I didn't know how wonderful they could be. Here are just a few southern stereotypes that are beautifully true of Tennessee.
1. Southern hospitality is no joke.
There is a sense of comfort in knowing that no matter where you go you will be greeted with a warm "hello" and a smile. Family dinners are sacred and you always have a place to call home. Everyone is welcome in Tennessee and you'll always be taken care of of.
2. Chivalry is still alive and well.
You won't go anywhere in Tennessee where a man won't hold a door for you or ask you if you're having a good day. In a world where gentlemen are few and far between, it's nice to know that there are still good ole southern boys. It might sound cheesy, but you know you love it.
3. Sweet tea is the new water.
I think I might be the only person in this beautiful state who likes her tea unsweetened! It should not be a surprise that every salon, boutique and party you go to offers you some fresh sweet tea. And it only gets more southern when they serve it to you in a mason jar.
4. Everything is made with love.
There is nothing quite like southern cooking! Everything tastes like your grandma made it and the special ingredient is love. Whether it's BBQ, fried chicken, coffee or apple pie, everything tastes better in Tennessee.
5. Music isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life.
Despite being home to some of the most famous musicians of our time, Tennessee is more than just the land of country music. With underground alternative, rap, and jazz scenes, Tennessee is quickly becoming a force in the music world. Tennesseans don't just listen to music - they live through music. There is not a day of the week where you won't be able to go somewhere and listen to live music or see a great show.
