Sometimes, life is tough. And sometimes, we aren't expected to always keep a strong facade. And, sometimes, all we need is to hear a sad song and cry because life sucks sometimes and when it does it seems to really sucks ll at once. Not to mention, moments of joy wouldn't be as meaningful if we didn't have moments of sorrow to compare them with. So allow yourself to be human and use these songs as the companions to your tears, whether you're crying because of an incident or your crying because, well, because you just , for some reason, can't seem to smile.
5. "Invisible" by Skylar Grey
This song captures the essence of feeling out of place in the world and as if nothing you do captures anyone's attention, good or bad.
4. "Not About Angels" by Birdy
This song is from the Fault In Our Stars soundtrack, so of course it's predetermined to be a heart-wrenched. This song focuses on unattainable love and the fear of losing love.
3. "Small Bump" by Ed Sheehan
Ed Sheehan seems to frequently know how to bring a tear to the eye, and this song is no different, and hits a bit closer to home in Ed's regard. He wrote this song in honor of his friend who had the unfortunate and tragic experience of having a miscarriage, so fair warning, it may be harder for some to listen to.
2. "The Queen and the Soldier" by Suzanne Vega
This song is one of my absolute favorites- it's presented as a narrative, and depicts the love story of a young soldier and a young queen, with an unexpected end that leaves the heart aching.
1. "Hospital Shirt" by Jason Myles Goss
This song has had such a powerful affect on me- the style in which Jason sings the song, in an almost upbeat and hopefully ay, combined with the power of the lyrics, really hits home for me and I feel the depth of each individual word.
