We all have those songs that we turn to when we're going through something. Whether or not its a happy or sad something, music helps us deal with whatever emotion we are feeling. At least for me, music is what I turn to. Below are a few songs that helped me and are just great in general. Listen and enjoy.

1. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

I first heard this song back in 2004 on an episode of the The O.C. The show was known for giving life to obscure and underground musicians. Downloading the series soundtracks, illegally, this particular song soon became my favorite. Hauntingly beautiful, take a listen and you'll hear the greatness.

2. Between The Bars by Elliott Smith

It's certainly no secret that Elliott Smith was one of the greats. Earning a place in my heart at a young age, every album he put out went above and beyond outdoing the one before it. This song is strangely sweet and is sure to make you feel vulnerable.

3. Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac

Growing up on Fleetwood Mac, courtesy of my hippie mother, Rumours is by far one of my favorite albums from the 70s and in my opinion, Fleetwoods best. The message of this song is conveyed short and sweet; you can make the same mistakes over again and hurt the person you care for, just know better than to keep doing it and just let that person in. What I like most about it is that it makes me happy whenever I listen to it.

4. Slow It Down by The Lumineers

From the artists that brought us "Ho Hey", comes a much more heartbreaking song. It's suitably named as it is the slowest song on the album. It's a story of an intense relationship that shouldn't be given up on and I think sometimes that is how a lot of people view love and relationships. When you're into someone, you should be yourself and not worry so much. In a way, it is eerily wonderful.

5. Welcome Home, Son by Radical Face

This song means a lot to me. I listened to it after a break up and in a way it helped me get through it. The lyrics read "Peel the scars from off my back, I don't need them anymore. You can throw them out or keep them in your mason jars. I've come home." This line did it for me and is what made me love this song so much. I felt a sense a peace wash over me and suddenly I was okay and over the breakup. This song is great for anyone trying to get over someone.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
