5 Songs That Remind You Of Your Loved Ones
College Times

Have you ever had that favorite song for each person in your life? That one song that you always think of them when you hear it, well here are mine.

1. "Play It Again" – Luke Bryan

Every time I hear this song, I think of my mom. That sounds a little weird I know but during the summer before my freshman year at college and during that year, this song would play every time we were in the car together. No matter which station we were listening to, it seemed to always come on. For a while, I stopped hearing "Play It Again", on the radio, not knowing why but I just knew that it was weird being in the car and not hearing it. Until last week, when it started playing again and both my mother and I, got excited.

2. "Love Yourself" – Justin Bieber & 3. "Little Things" – One Direction

Both of these songs remind me of my boyfriend. The reason I say this is because "Love Yourself" is a song that shows me that no matter what, you should love yourself and my boyfriend tells me that I should love myself and not listen to the negative things other people say. Every time I hear this song on Pandora, I send a screenshot of it to my boyfriend, same with "Little Things". No matter what happens with the little things in our lives that we deal with, we will always love each other. They may not be the “typical” love songs, but they are two songs that show us no matter what, everything will be okay.

4. "Fight Song" – Rachel Platten

Do you just have that one song that when it comes on the radio and you are in the car with your best friend you just jam out? That’s what "Fight Song" is for my best friend and I. Even though we are eight years apart in age, we are still close. This song reminds me of her because, no matter what, she tells me to keep fighting for what I believe in. She has always been there to support me in any decision I make. My best friend has shown me that when people try and knock you down, you just have to get back up and put on a fight.

5. "Count on Me" – Bruno Mars

“You can count on me like one two three
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like four three two
You'll be there”

These lines make me think of a lot of people in my life, but mostly, they make me think of my sorority big. When you get a Big, you mostly get them to be a mentor, someone that will always be there for you when you need help. When I got my Big, I not only got a mentor, but I gained a best friend. "Count on Me"is a song that reminds me that no matter what happens in my life or hers, she will always be there for me and I can count on her.

When you have songs that remind you of your loved ones, you always want to listen to them. Sing those songs loud and proud.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
