Fall is here and hitting quicker than we can gather our sweaters, but snuggling up without the music to fit the feel is down right untraditional. So get your cup o' Joe's, your lemon and teas, or your hot chocolate and marshmallows because heres a list of autumn music videos to get you in the mood. . . or just to help you get through the day. 1. Sugar, We're Going Down

By Fallout Boy

The fall season is a hunter's paradise, the forests ripe with deer, turkeys -- for Thanksgiving -- and other game. One of the first songs I listened to by FOB, the awkward irony if the story is what attracted me to the music. This heart-felt love story about an antler boy falling for a hunter's daughter isn't new, but it is choreographed well. But what characterizes this music video as fall music for me is the motif of change. The leaves sheds their verdant pigment revealing their beautiful shades and tints of brown, red, and yellow. And my teenage puberty hit me like a brick wall teetering between being a misunderstood emo kid and a rap enthusiast, both of which I still carry around with me on my playlist. This similar idea is used as a metaphor in revealing the father's hypocritical secret: he's really an antler boy himself. Fall is all about change, kind of like an early new year's.

2. Electric Love

By Børns

This sweater-weather song is mesmerizing as it is soothing in rhythm and tone, but the music video is so visually engaging that you feel transported to another world. Honestly, it's pretty psychedelic. But the lyrics are really what puts this song on the list. The cuddle-inducing breezes of fall are synonymous with new love which is exactly what this song is about. The words are powerfully hyperboles that hit straight into the feeling of budding romances and especially the excitement of teenage puppy love. What isn't there to like about strange feelings that make you all butterflies inside your tummy?

3. Rocketeer

By Far East Movement Ft.Ryan Tedder

While this list is about fall music, in the height of social anxiety, I think this song deserves a pat on the back for being one of the few more popular songs -- Along with their other hit "Like A G6" -- by Asian Americans in the hip-hop scene to hit the charts. What is distinctly autumn-esque about "Rocketeer" is the smooth alto Tedder provides as the backdrop and chorus to the bouncing rhythm of Far East Movement's well-balanced rapping. Plus, with the music video considered, there's nothing more romantic than building a jet-pack from junk scraps just to see your beloved.

4. 3005

By Childish Gambino

Since you might be sick of all of the love stories, this one is for you single ladies and gents. With a somber beat, "3005" is reminiscent of J. Cole's rhythm and rapping with a lighter and more awkward voice. However, the cute giant sentient teddybear that the rapper has his arm around takes the autumn cake. The most snuggly plushie is seated on a Ferris wheel next to a passionless Donald Glover looking in the other direction rapping about heartache and passing insults. The metaphor becomes clear when the teddy starts to slowly deteriorate. And despite the lyrics, the song flows well with harmonic background vocals against tapping drum tempos. Sip your hot chocolate that is sweeter than your love life. We've all been there before. P.S. There is a 15-second bit at the end of the song that gives you some dark closure.

5. Stressed Out

By Twenty One Pilots

While some of you have already met hordes of family or had a small family gathering for the Thanksgiving, we all know the pressures of the extended family interrogations. While a newer one on this list, "Stressed Out" encompasses the feelings of anxiety in the faces of judging eyes and questions like "So what are doing with your life?" With mix of rock and pop music, this song equalizes the two genres with a nice stream of rap that ties the drum accents, background vocals, and piano notes. At least next month we'll get paid in presents for being insulted. Can't wait.

With caroling songs already on the radio, be sure to savor these songs in loving memory of fall. If you think I have missed some good fall songs or have better ones in mind, please share them in the comment section below!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
