5 Songs That Are Truly Relatable
Pintrest

Music is everywhere: in our cars, coffee shops, and even elevators. We can't escape from it. Then, there are those people who are literally listening to their favorite artists at every available moment, the ones who never take out their earbuds or headphones. This gives us a lot of time to think about what exactly we are listening to. A lot of the music we hear at this day and age talks about emotional downpours, mistakes, and so many other semi-cliché themes. But then we come across that one lyric that makes us go, "So true!" Everyone is different and that's why music is so great! There is a genre for everyone. Here are some truly relatable lyrics for all that life may bring you.

1. "Lazarus" by Circa Survive

"2am, I'm thinking about how lucky I've been, I need to take a moment to myself. 6am, I'm thinking about how lonely I've been, I need to take a moment to myself."

This is the type of song that you listen to when you've had a rough day and decide to take a breather. It reminds us that we all struggle, we all have those moments where we feel lost. Truth be told, I find myself thinking in the wee hours of the morning and having these same thoughts.

2. "Always" by Panic! at the Disco

"When the world gets too heavy, put it on my back. I'll be your levy. You are taking me apart like bad glue on a get well card."

This is the anthem for all us care takers out there. When our friends, family or significant other is hurt, we always want to be there for them. This song describes how we will be there to hold their hand. While it may not be easy, we are willing to do this because of how much we love and care for them.

3. "I Don't Care" by Fall Out Boy

"The best of us can find happiness in misery."

Have you ever had one of those days where you are so fed up with how things are going and all you want to do is scream, "I don't care anymore!"? This is the song you need to listen to. Even though I tried to steer away from clichés, this song embodies the sound of teenage angst. However, the lyrics describe how we have to get over these bad days and make room for the good ones. This is a great mood booster for these days and everything in between.

4. "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" by Cage the Elephant

"Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked, money don't grow on trees. I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed. And ain't nothing in this world for free."

A lot of people struggle financially. This song opens up the minds for those who take their wealth for granted. Looking at this lyric, alone, opens up our view. Nothing in this world is free. We all pay for what is given to us, whether it be cash, our emotional well-being, or our blood, sweat and tears.

5. "Float" by The Neighbourhood

"They show you how to swim, then they throw you in the deep end. I've been learning since, but it doesn't mean I'll float."

A message to all parents out there, you can try to prepare us for just about everything but this doesn't mean we can survive it all. This is an important lesson for all of us. We can mentally prepare ourselves as much as we see fit but in reality we can't prepare for everything. We have to understand this and not blame ourselves for things we couldn't see. We should instead, learn from these experiences and move on in the best way we can.

We can learn so much more than this from music. This isn't even a chip in the iceberg. This is just a singular rain drop during a monsoon. There's a genre, an artist for everyone, just know that you aren't alone. Music has taught me this and I hope you are able to see it for yourself.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
