We've all had those days when everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. As a 21 year old who is about to be a senior in college, I've been finding that I have more and more of those days. All my plans, everything I thought was a done deal, seem to fall apart. This is a playlist that I use to take a step back and give "it" back to God, trusting that He is greater than me. He's got a plan.
1. Hillsong UNITED - "Oceans (Where Feet May Fall)"
Hillsong UNITED is one of my favorite worship bands. This song perfectly describes the feeling of giving your plans over to God and trusting Him to get you through.
2. Laura Story - "Blessings"
Laura Story won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song with this song in 2012. The lyrics talk about all of the things we pray to God for every day and how sometimes, He answers our prayers in ways we don't expect. This one has really helped me when I prayed to God for a "yes" and He gave me a "no." It reminds me that He knows what He's doing, even if I don't.
3. Casting Crowns - "Praise You In This Storm"
I've needed this song more than once, too. It is perfect for those times in your life when you feel like you can't see past the bad that is happening right now. Give it a listen for those days when you need a reminder to praise God not only in the good, but also the bad.
4. Tenth Avenue North - "By Your Side"
Since I'm about to be a senior in college and then join the real world, I've been looking for a lot of things. A job, a place to live, a feeling of security. Sometimes, I realize that I need to take a step back and realize that in God, I have everything I really need. He is enough. This song is a good reminder of that.
5. J. W. Van DeVenter - "I Surrender All"
While this isn't exactly a contemporary worship song like the rest of the list, I definitely think it deserves a space here. This hymn is about completely surrendering everything to God. Even for those who generally like contemporary Christian music more than traditional, this one is worth the listen. For the days that you need a quick reminder of who is really in charge, take these few songs and have some quiet time to give it all to God. As for me, I'll be continuing my day to day journey of living in the knowledge that He has a plan for me. It's His world, and I'm just living in it.
