We all know that smoothie bowls are the new thing. The vibrant colors, amazing taste and health benefits (when made with proper ingredients) prove that these bowls are super fun. So to make your life a little bit easier, I have found the best five smoothie bowls that you must try.
1. Vanilla Raspberry Smoothie Bowl
If you like vanilla and raspberries, this bowl is certainly for you. With the extra protein in this recipe, it's a good choice for after a workout or run.
Serving Size: 1
Smoothie:
1 small frozen banana
3/4 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup Almond Milk
1 or 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder (depending on preference)
2 tbsp of chia seeds + 2 tbsp of water
Toppings:
1/4 cup granola (Vanilla Almond is a good option, but you can use any kind)
a few fresh raspberries
a sprinkle of cacao nibs
Instructions:
Place chia seeds in water for roughly 10 minutes (until gelatinous)
Transfer to blender along with all other smoothie ingredients
Pour into bowl and add the toppings
Enjoy!
2. Energizing Green Smoothie Bowl
Don't be fooled by the color of this bowl because it is packed with nutrients for your body. With the option of adding maca powder (a powder when taken in small amounts, can boost energy and help clear skin) and flaxseed make this bowl different from the others. It's a good choice if you want to get your spinach fix, but you don't want to eat two cups of it by itself.
Serving Size:1
Smoothie:
2 handfuls of spinach
2 or 1 and 1/2 frozen bananas
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 tbsp ground flaxseed and maca powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Toppings:
pineapple
chia seeds
coconut shavings
Instructions:
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy (add more almond milk as needed)
Add toppings, and enjoy!
3. Magical Spirulina Smoothie Bowl
Spirulina is a great source of antioxidants, protein and many other nutrients. Although the tables and powder form of this ingredient are a scary looking dark green, don't let it fool you. It may look scary, but it's there to help our health.
Serving Size: 1
Smoothie:
1 frozen banana
1 apple
1/2 pear
1 kiwi fruit
3 tbsp vanilla yogurt
juice of 1/2 lemon
2-3 spirulina tablets
Toppings:
blackberries
chia seeds
any fresh fruit
Instructions:
Blend ingredients in a blender (adding more yogurt if needed)
Add toppings and enjoy!
4. Superfood Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
This smoothie bowl is delicious. The smoothie itself doesn't resemble the taste of chocolate too much (unless you add more cocoa powder, which you ceratinly can), but the overall flavor is amazing. The avocado provides a taste that is different from the other recipes, but it makes the consistency creamier.
Serving Size: 1
Smoothie:
1/4 cup almond milk
2 tsp raw honey
1/4 avocado
1 banana
2 tbsp berries (blackberries or raspberries are best)
1 tsp cocoa powder
Toppings:
banana
coconut flakes
chia seeds
cocoa nibs
blackberries
Ingredients:
Blend ingredients together in blender
Add toppings and enjoy!
5. Peach, Orange, and Berry Smoothie Bowl
This bowl is perfect if you love peaches (which I do!), and surprisingly the combonation of the berries and the peaches provide an amaizng flavor. The anitoxidant from the blueberries and the nutrients from the chia seeds make this bowl another great choice.
Serving Size: 1
Smoothie:
1 peach
1 banana
juice from an orange
*Add yogurt or almond milk if needed
Toppings:
blackberries
blueberries
walnuts
chia seeds
a drizzle of honey (optional)
Instructions:
Blend ingredients together in a blender (add more orange juice, yogurt, or almond milk if preferred)
Add toppings and enjoy!
These smoothie bowls tend to have high amounts of sugar due to the fruits in them. So be sure that you aren't using this smoothie bowl as an excuse not to drink water with it. These bowls are very beneficial to our health (especially with ingredients such as Spirulina and chia seeds), but without water we can't stay healthy. Make sure you hydrate daily along with eating well.
