5 Signs Your Pet Is In Charge Of You

You want what's best for your pet, but sometimes they take it too far.

5 Signs Your Pet Is In Charge Of You

When you brought your beloved pet home you knew it was love. As time went on, there was a trust there that your pet knew wouldn't be broken, so kind of like a relationship, they show you the real them. All of the sudden you find yourself doing things for your pet that you would never do for someone else.

1. Wake Up!

It's 5 in the morning and all you hear is this meow or bark that won't stop. You wake up long enough to tell them it is too early to go outside but they don't care. They will look you dead in the eye and throw an actual fit. Sometimes even knocking stuff down to make you mad enough to get up and let them out.

2. No Privacy

It does not matter if you are just in the bathroom to put something away or trying to actually use the restroom, your pet will be there. Sitting. Watching you while you do your business. No matter if the door to the bathroom is closed, it's almost as if they feel like they're missing out on something for that three minutes. Sad part is, you let it happen. It doesn't even matter if there is company over, you just let them walk in on your unknowing guests.

3. Bed Hog

When it comes to sleeping you pet just wants to feel your touch. They do not care how comfortable you are at night as long as they have enough room it's fine. You find that instead of making them move when you are uncomfortable, you allow them to sleep sideways across the bed and you sleep in a ball, convincing yourself it really is more comfortable that way.

4. Hello Food?!

Meal time is a crowd favorite. When you have your meals, they need to as well. Sometimes when you give them their food, you have to pet them or make sure that they have complete privacy as they eat. Other times they just want your food instead of the same kibble they get every day. The attention you give them takes away from the meal you are eating but it's fine because your pet is happy. That's all that matters, right?

5. Try me

You never want to yell at a pet for doing something wrong so sometimes you just don't. Now it's as if they think they can get away with things because you didn't yell one time. Every time after is like yelling at a brick wall because when the cat goes to eat the flowers or your dog got so excited he ripped open his new bed you have no authority according to them. They just go about their day as if nothing ever happened.

If any or all of these happen to you, I hate to break it to you but your animal runs your house. It's too late to turn back now so just embrace the love they want to give you. Animals are the best. So what if they're the boss of you. Love them forever and it won't even matter that you get a two-by-two square to sleep in.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
