We have the world in our hands

We may only be on Earth for one lifetime, but the environment has to last for thousands of years beyond us. The only way to improve our atmosphere and keep our land and air clean for the future is to pick up simple habits like these!

1. Reusable bags

All grocery stores sell them. Canvas bags are everywhere, AND you probably have at least three durable bags in your home already. Just PUT THEM IN YOUR CAR, and remember to grab them when you run into any store. Skip the plastic at all costs!

2. Glass Containers

Tell me Mason Jars aren't the most nifty way of saving and transporting food? Left overs, buying in bulk, bringing lunch from home — there is a different shaped glass container for any substance imaginable. Bonus: they clean well.

3. Compost your fruit and veggie remains

Using a Tupperware container, small garbage can, or even a bowl off to the side of your kitchen work space, you can collect all stems, skin, pits, seeds, etc. and dispose of them in a garden or safe place in the woods. It gives back to the Earth and immensely reduces the smelly waste in your garbage.

4. Escape Junk Mail

Whether it be calling to cancel unnecessary subscriptions or companies asking for money or switching to electronic bills/statements (just do both, honestly), get away from all that paper waste! Save the trees! And recycle the junk mail you do still get :)

5. Fashion a rad Water bottle

They're customizable, with plenty of variety in material, size, shape, and features, and you can always add stickers so everyone knows it's yours. Now you're a cool kid who is ALSO saving the world, one less plastic water bottle at a time.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
