5 Simple Ways To Live Each Day Like A Vacation

Why is it that when we go on vacation, the days seem like seconds? Each day goes by so fast, flashing before our eyes without our control. With every day, we are left trying to savior each moment.

What if we were able to apply this mentality to our daily "day to day" lives? What if we started treating every day like our last, and focused on making the most out of every second.

Lets start living each day like a vacation. Instead of following a strict routine, be spontaneous. Stop watching the clock, and enjoy every moment. Instead of wishing the day away, learn how to make the day longer.

Think how much time you waste in the day. Think about how many days in your life that were not used to their full potential. We will never get those minutes, hours, days, or even years back. And with every day wasted, is another opportunity taken away to enjoy life and what life has to offer.

To help you learn to embrace every day to the fullest, here are 5 easy steps to living every day like a vacation.

1. Make New Discoveries

No this does not have to be finding the cure to cancer or any worldwide discovery, but simply engaging in your daily activities and learning something new. This can be making a mistake and learning a lesson from it or simply teaching yourself a new skill. Always ask questions, and never just believe something that someone says. Go out and make experiences every day.

2. Give Back

With busy schedules, it's easy to make excuses for not having time to do something for someone else. However, there is always an opportunity to give back to those around you each day. This could be treating a coworker to coffee, spending a few minutes after class to thank a professor for the lesson that day, or just simply saying hi to a stranger. These simple gestures may seem small, but it's the thoughtful "little" things that mean most.

3. Take Advantage Of Every Day

Treat every second, minute, and hour as your last. Put in 110% every day, and try to get the most out of everything you do. Learn to use your time wisely. Set priorities and goals for yourself. Work on being a better version of yourself every day. Take advantage of the skills you have and use them to your full potential.

4. Recognize The Positives

It is easy to get frustrated or give up and wish the day away. However, by focusing on the positives this will make each day brighter. Just acknowledging one positive thing each day can make a difference in your mood, personality, and environment.

5. Share The Day With Someone

No one likes to be alone. So every day, try to share it with someone. This can be a neighbor, friend, coworker, or even your pet dog. This doesn't have to be in person, it could be sharing a memory with a long lost friend, face-timing your mom after an exam, or just the simple conversation with the barista at your local coffee shop. Start to share your life with those around you, and recognize that you are not alone. Build a community of strong and supportive friendships.

There's no denying that we are busy. But, with any busy schedule, we put effort into different things to make time for them. Learn to make time for yourself and those around you every day. Acknowledge the simple things, and learn to appreciate the time you have.

Unplug from technology and remove any distractions. Take breaks, and live life to your expectations. Change your mindset, and accept that it is okay to say no. Learn to say no to everything, and start saying yes what mean most to you.

Time does not stop. So get up, and start living your life. Your life is waiting.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
