With it being the time of Thanksgiving, it is important that we take the time to actually be thankful. Life gets in the way when we are busy and we often don't get to look around at what is really important.
Here is a list of 5 simple things to be thankful for on Thanksgiving:
Recommended for you
1) Family
Sometimes, at the end of the day, family is all you have. Your family is supposed to have your back, no matter what. They love you for your flaws and they love you unconditionally. Family doesn't always mean the people you were born to, but the people who make you feel like you belong somewhere and who make you feel at home. Be thankful for those people.
2) Friends
Friends can be like family. They are around for the good times and the bad times. True friends are a shoulder to lean on and a life companion. They are supposed to be there so you don't feel alone. They are there to make you feel normal and delude you into thinking life isn't that hard. Be thankful for those people.
3) Laughter
Sometimes laughter is all we have against the grasps of pain. It shakes our bodies, bubbles to our lips and escapes our mouths. When the laughter is really good, your stomach may even ache -- in a good way. Laughter allows for one small moment of true bliss. Be thankful for your moments of laughter and hold onto to them.
4) Hope
Hope is our weapon against darkness and fears. We can shield ourselves from despair with rays of hope. Let hope come into your life and hope for the best. Life is too short and hope may be the best or only option. Be thankful that hope exists.
5) You're Alive
You're alive. Life is by no means perfect. It can hurt more than it can be fun. However, for the reasons mentioned above and for the sake of love, it is worth it. You're alive and you get another day to make your life the way you want it to be.
On Thanksgiving, here are just a few things to be thankful for. However, just make sure you take the time to enjoy what you miss on the average day and try to pay closer attention to them if you can remember. Life is too short to not be thankful.
