At some point, we stop to think about how we can achieve happiness. Every person is different, so it all comes down to what you love and enjoy. Here are five simple steps to feeling happy, no matter where you are in life.

1. Stop searching for it.

When we focus too much on trying to be happy, we end up missing out on happiness altogether. When you stop trying to find happiness, it will come naturally. You will realize that it is found in the small moments and little things in life.

2. Have no expectations.

Having expectations will only lead to disappointment. When you expect things to go a certain way, or expect people to act in a certain way, you will constantly feel let down. Things rarely happen the way we expect them to. Try having no expectations and good things will come to you.

3. Embrace imperfection.

Perfectionism keeps us from being happy. Life will never be perfect, no matter how hard you try. We have to learn to be okay with that. Imperfection is beautiful. We must love imperfect things.

4. Embrace change.

Most of us wake up every day and find ourselves doing the same things. We get stuck in a routine and it will drive us insane. Change is an important part of our lives. Try new things and embrace every experience. That is how you will learn and grow.

5. Do what you love.

Do what you love and never stop. Be around the people you love and never stop. We tend to make things more complicated than they are. Stop overthinking. Stop trying to make sense of it all. If it makes you happy, it doesn't have to make sense.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.
