As a college student, I am limited in the resources I have here on campus. Although this is my second year at UAlbany, I'm still not as familiar with Albany's environment as I am with my environment in New York City. Halloween is approaching slowly but surely and conversations about what we want to be are occurring between my friends and I. We began thinking of the ways a financially unstable college student can participate in dressing up for Halloween.
1. Kitty:
Being a kitty is one of the most basic easiest affordable costumes to do. All you have to do is to put on all black, and buy some fake ears from Walmart or the mall. If you don't know how to finesse your makeup, no problem. Just draw three lines on each side of your face for whiskers and a reasonably-sized dot on your nose.
2. Bunny:
Being a bunny is a little more flexible. You can wear all white, all pink, a mixture of both, or go on a limb and wear any color you want. The most important part is the bunny ears, and that they match with your outfit. You can wear makeup to add to the costume however, you don't really have to.
3. Vampire:
Being a vampire is all about your face. Therefore, if makeup isn't your forte, maybe being a vampire isn't for you. You can really wear any outfit as long as it compliments the "vampire look". Fake blood and fangs would really top the costume off, but if your makeup is on fleek, I'm sure we'd get the message.
4. Sexy Teacher/Nurse:
Being a teacher or a nurse can be as simple as putting on a pencil skirt, a cute white blouse, and heels, which are things almost every female owns. Little things like a yard stick, a stethoscope, a notebook, or glasses can differentiate the costumes.
5. Minnie Mouse:
Being Minnie Mouse is easy because you can wear a dress, skirt, shorts or pants as long as it incorporates red/pink, black and white. Having ears would allow people to know exactly who you are but I wouldn't say it's a necessity.
