While I had a great experience going random in the housing process my freshman year, choosing who you are going to live the following years with is so, so exciting. Since I was a little girl watching my older siblings going off to college, I dreamt of the days when I, too, would get to dorm with my best friends. What could be more fun?!

When my best friend Alyssa and I decided last year to room together this year, we originally assumed we would just get a double together. But then, Alyssa got an incredible number in the housing lottery (which is basically The Hunger Games IRL), and we realized we would be able to live in one of the few coveted sophomore suites on campus. We pulled in our other two best friends, Devin and Micaela (who were planning on sharing a double of their own), and it has been magical ever since...and we haven't even moved in together yet! If you are about to live with your best friends, or you have been living with your best friends for years, you know how unbelievably exciting it is. Here are number telltale signs you and your roommates cannot wait to live together:

1. You text each other non-stop.

The group chat is blowing up constantly. You're basically telling each other all the things that you would just pop over to the next room to say in person; asking for clothing/hair advice, planning fun roommate activities to do together, and planning how you're going to christen the suite (read: wine). The daily conversations would be remiss without stating the obvious "I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH"/"I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACES AGAIN"/"I CAN'T WAIT TO LIVE WITH YOU ALL." All caps is absolutely necessary. Also, your group chat name is probably something super cute and witty, like "The Suitest Girls," or something like that.

2. You've already planned all the fun roommate things you're going to do together as well as all the cute pictures you're going to take together.

Once you get to choose your roommates, your cohabitation transcends the residence hall. You don't just live together, you live it up together. My roommates and I are seeing Pentatonix together in September. We're going to make infused gummy bears. We're going to take cute wine-in-hand pictures on our couch during girls' night and caption them "The Real Housewives of Rosie East 104." Our suitemate love cannot be tamed.

3. You've become oddly domestic, and you're not ashamed of it.

Three months ago, my suitemates and I were discussing shower curtains in the event that our bathroom didn't come with one. Alyssa was looking for a new comforter, so of course she asked for our opinions. We're making a color-coded cleaning chart for the bathroom. And like the proper basic bitches we are, Micaela bought us a tapestry for our common room wall. It really spruces up the space. Even though the space doesn't really need sprucing, because duh, I'm living with the most amazing and effervescent women ever.

4. You've already planned all the wonderful experiences you're going to share together as roommates.

Spa nights? Check. Sharing closets? Check. Going to Home Depot to buy succulents? Check.

5. The closer you get to move-in day, the happier you become.

Your roommates are some of the sweetest, most caring and loving people you know. You feel so grateful just to have them as friends, but having them as roommates too? You are truly blessed.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
