Traveling is one of the most rewarding and beneficial aspects of our adolescence; it helps us find our truest selves by forcing us out of our comfort zones.
Some may be intimidated by the process, but for those who aren’t, you very likely have the travel bug. This bug is something that most of us experience at least once in our lives. Take a moment to look back on the times that you have felt restless, constantly searching for a new challenge or experience in a new location. Congratulations, that was the bug coming to life within you.
For some of us, the bug comes to life and can never be killed. If you experience the following 5 signs, then you indeed have the travel bug. Welcome to the club, we are glad to have you! Where shall we head next?
1. Restlessness
As mentioned earlier, this restlessness is the first sign of the travel bug. This restlessness can only be cured by the beautiful act of traveling. Being restless can actually lead to some of the best experiences by forcing you to make a change.
2. Questioning
There’s always a possibility of a better quality of life. This is normally the stage where the travel bug is put to rest. Many people find that they are actually very content on how their lives turned out. For those who aren’t, continue reading, as I am sure that you will identify with us that wonder.
3. Googling
If you often take to the internet to explore images of places you want to visit, then you have the bug. My current google searches are things like “Greece” and “Australia” if that tells you anything. Don’t worry, my travel bug has long since been discovered and I am proud of my google search history.
4. Jealousy
Jealousy is never the answer, but sometimes it is needed for you to realize what you want. If you are constantly creeping on your abroad friends, then you have the travel bug. I am guilty of this, as I am currently writing this and looking at my friend’s pictures that were taken in Spain.
5. Money hoarding
We all have dreams and aspirations. There is always that voice in the back of our heads urging us to make smart decisions about how we spend our money. We rarely listen to it. But, if that voice is telling you to save your money for the possibility of travel in the future, then you have been blessed with the travel bug.
Now that you know your diagnosis, start planning and adventuring. Feel free to invite me along, of course.
