1. You've accepted that you have to plan your life around when someone else is going to pee.
Some days it's just a struggle taking care of myself. When will I eat? When will I sleep? When will I do my homework? Who knows. One thing is for sure -- all of my needs will be planned around when my dog needs to walk, eat, and pee.
2. Leaving the house is always challenging.
I feel guilty when I have to leave my dog at home. It could be for 30 minutes or an hour, but either way, one thing is for sure -- I always want to bring him with me. I've actually Googled which stores that I can bring a dog into in hopes that I wouldn't have to suffer through leaving him at home again. It's a challenge, but seeing how excited he gets when I come home is the best part of my day for sure.
3. You spend half of your paycheck on dog treats and toys.
A trip to Target or TJ Maxx is never just a quick one. In fact, I usually spend a lot of my time in the dog aisle picking out toys, a new collar, a Halloween costume, and dog treats. Buying dog things can get pretty expensive and it's certainly a struggle between, "does my dog really need this?" and "I want everything!"
4. You've accepted that your dog gets most of the bed.
Every single night. There's so much space in the bed, but for some reason, my dog loves to be as close to me as possible. Sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night, awkwardly positioned, only to find that my pup has taken over my spot.
5. You often wonder how your love for your dog could grow any stronger.
This is a daily struggle for me because I love my dog so much. Being a pup mom is probably one of the most rewarding things that I've ever done and out of all of the things that I've ever been, it is by far my favorite. I struggle with how I will ever be able to love my dog more than I already do, but with each passing day, I prove myself wrong as I find myself loving my dog even more.
