5 Shows You Should Binge on Netflix

It's that time of year when school is in full swing, but you still want to save some time in your busy schedule for a show on Netflix. You probably finished a major binge over the winter break, and now you are in search of something new, exciting, and interesting to add to your life. With the endless possibilities in the online streaming world, it is extremely difficult to make a decision and commit to a new series. As someone who spends every free second of her time currently binging on Netflix, I have some experience and am here to help you procrastinate even more than you already do. So without further ado, here are my top 5 shows you should definitely binge watch on Netflix.

1. Grey's Anatomy

Basically, if you have time for anything besides basic functions that keep you alive, you have time for Grey's Anatomy. It has everything a binge-watcher could ask for and more! The drama that goes on both in and out of the operating room captivates its audience, and if you can't get on board with Shonda Rhimes and her brilliant writing and ability to keep viewers interested for 13 seasons then you are probably a lost cause already.

2. Friends

Friends is a classic that was popular and amazing when it first aired and is still making people fall in love with it today. You will get emotionally involved in every one of the character's lives. No matter how many times you've watched the series, you still laugh at all of Phoebe's weird quirks and cry whenever Rachel and Ross try to make their relationship work and fail.

3. One Tree Hill

Whether you have played basketball at some point in your life or not, One Tree Hill is definitely worth watching. You can't help but fall in love with the characters even when you really want to hate some of them, and with all of the love triangles and betrayal it's hard not to get invested in this show.

4. Gossip Girl

Alright this one makes me sound like a basic white girl who loves Starbucks and wearing uggs with leggings, but Gossip Girl is actually very entertaining. You get to see the characters grow up from naive and spoiled high school kids in the Upper East Side of New York City to more mature versions of high society that we all love to read about in the tabloids. And for those of you who have never seen the show, waiting to finally find out who Gossip Girl is in the end is definitely worth the wait.

5. Shameless

This one is my current binge, and I am loving every second of it. It is so hard not to spend a whole afternoon watching this show instead of homework or studying. The amount of times I scream while watching Shameless is insane, but sometimes I just can't help it. The story line keeps viewers so engaged, and I can't wait to see where seasons 6 and 7 take me!

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of other shows I enjoy binging on Netflix, but these five will most likely go down as my favorites. There are so many characters viewers can connect with and get personally invested in it's hard not to somehow spend 12 hours straight watching them! So put on your favorite pair of fuzzy socks, baggy sweatpants, and messy bun, microwave that popcorn, open that bottle of wine you've been eyeing up and happy binging!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
