June is the perfect month to catch up on some much-needed relaxation by watching Netflix and finding yourself becoming way too invested the various shows Netflix has to offer. With summer in full swing, it's appropriate to create a list of the top shows that should be on your list this month. From shows that deal with real-life situations to those with wacky storylines, Netflix is sure to bring you any option you made me wanting for the perfect TV night. Here are five Netflix shows you should binge-watch this month:
1. Parenthood
"Parenthood" is easily one of the greatest shows that have been created in the past 10 years. With six seasons, wonderfully thought-out character development, and too many episodes that hit you right in the feels, "Parenthood" proved even from the pilot episode that I was in for a rollercoaster of emotions. The actors’ chemistry with one another was only a fraction of how amazing the show was as a whole. There truly is no other show that brings the perfect blend of family dynamics, real-life situations, and showing the importance of keeping those you love close to you no matter what.
2. Orange Is the New Black
With the fourth season being added June 17, it’s safe to say that "Orange Is the New Black" has proven to be one of the hottest shows of the summer. Netflix created the perfect blend of humor and drama as we follow the stories of the inmates at Litchfield. The 13-episode seasons are composed with ups and downs that keep you on your toes are show the many wonders of what can actually happen inside a women’s prison. Sure, season one was a little on the slower side, however, if you stick with it, I promise you will become hooked like the rest of us.
3. Grace & Frankie
What if you were married for over 20 years and suddenly your spouse tells you they’re divorcing you and marrying their business partner? That’s exactly what happens on "Grace and Frankie." With two seasons up its sleeve, "Grace and Frankie" follows the story of two recently divorced women who find out their husbands have been cheating on them with each other. Described as more of a drama than a comedy, "Grace and Frankie" bring an entirely new element to the subject of homosexuality in the older generation. The show is truly a must-watch.
4. Jane the Virgin
After being accidentally artificially inseminated, Jane finds herself in a situation she tried so hard to prevent. Not only does Jane have to figure out how to raise a child without even experiencing sex first, she also has to figure out who and what are important to her and her child’s lives. Critics have certified the show as “critical acclaim” and each episode will have you laughing at least twice. "Jane the Virgin" is a really clever and witty show that draws from humor everyone can enjoy.
5. How to Get Away With Murder
I couldn’t leave Shonda Rhimes’ amazingly empowering show, "How to Get Away With Murder" from the list of must-watches for this month. The show follows Annalise Keating (Emmy-winning actress Viola Davis), a defense lawyer and her gifted students as they go through many cases. During the show, Keating and her students find themselves in some really crazy situations that test their limits and ability to get away with almost everything – including murder. Get ready to become obsessed with all of the twist and turns this show has been proven to offer.
