Thanksgiving is right around the corner and if you need a little alone time after spending all day dealing with the relatives, here are a few shows to pass the time until the Black Friday Sales begin!

1. Shameless

A 20-something year old daughter is forced to take over the household and support her 5 siblings. The mother abandon them and the father is a drunk who pops in and out of their life. They live on the SouthSide of Chicago while dealing with poverty. I guarantee you won't be able to press pause for any reason with this series.

2. Making A Murderer

Steven Avery is "wrongly accused" of murdering young photographer Teresa Halbach in a small town in Wisconsin. The Steven has a bad past and him and the rest of the Avery's are the outcast in town, owning a junk car lot right outside of town. After being freed of jail for a rape he never committed, Steven finds himself back in the courtroom- this time for something way worse. This is one of those cliffhanger series that you'll find yourself not able to take your eyes off the screen.

3. Orange Is The New Black

Based on a true story, OITNB follows Piper Chapman- a successful young woman who gets placed in a women's prison after her wild past catches up to her. Over time, she gets to know the other inmates who have interesting stories of their own. From a Russian woman who became caught up in the mob to a farmer who accidentally committed murder trying to protect her crops, you'll become hooked after one episode.

4. Black Mirror

This series is not for the faint hearted, with every episode telling a different story of the complications of social media and technology in our day and age, you'll find yourself on the edge of your seat by the end of the hour.

5. House Of Cards

A cut-throat politician named Frank Underwood guides you throughout the intense lifestyle of Washington D.C. and trying to climb the latter to the most coveted seat in the White House. By the end of this series you'll be changing your major to Political Science.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
