5 Places To Shop in Tampa on a Budget

5 Shops in Tampa You Should Visit

#1.) Altar'd State - Located in International Plaza, Altar'd State is currently my go to store as a college student shopping on a shoestring budget. Not only is the apparel eclectic, but the fairly new retailer sells a variety of fresh home goods, gift items and accessories. Altar'd State also gives back to the community by donating a portion of every sale made to local and international charities. Altar'd State is currently having an additional 70 percent off sale on already marked down items. These types of sales are not uncommon for the store as well. In the past two months alone, the company has also had additional 50 percent and 60 percent off sales. In the past I have bought faux leather leggings for $14, denim shorts for $9, winter sweaters for $15, dresses from anywhere between $10-$20 and even skirts for just $1.

#2.) Tampa Indie Flea - This local flea market only takes place once a month, but it is well worth the wait. Shoppers can find a multitude of crafts made by local artists, baked goods, vintage clothing and accessories, plants and furniture items. I stopped by January's Indie Flea, located at the historic Rialto Theater for the first time and found lots of great deals. I bought a pair of earrings and a necklace from one jeweler for $30 altogether and found unused or gently used vintage shoes and clothing anywhere from $1-$10. At this market, there is definitely something for everyone. Currently the Indie Flea is planning to host a pop-up market in Gainesville in the near future.

#3.) Vagabond Gita - Although I have not been here yet, Vagabond Gita is a bar, street market, gallery, food trucks and provides live entertainment in Seminole Heights. You can stop by and watch artists create works of art in front of you, visit vendors that make jewelry, hand-painted clothing and soap products or just stop by to enjoy food drinks and great music to dance to.

#4.) Juxtapose - Located in Hyde Park, this store is chock full of name brand clothes and knick knacks from companies such as Free People, BCBG, Trina Turk, Rebecca Minkoff and many more. Juxtapose just had a sticker sale with marked down prices anywhere from 20-60 percent off the original price.

#5.) Tampa Bay Outfitters - For those of you who enjoy outdoor brands such as Patagonia, Chacos, Camelbak, The North Face and Columbia to name a few, this is the perfect place for you. This store always has a sale rack full of apparel from name brands such as these. The first time I went in, I found a Patagonia fleece pullover on sale for only $45 (marked down from $120!) For college students coming to school from up north, it can be a shock when winter comes around and it is surprisingly cold here in Tampa. This is definitely the place to go to find those popular fleece pullovers for a fraction of the price.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
