I love going to the beach, but I'm not the biggest fan of swimming in the ocean or laying down on a towel in an attempt to tan my pale white skin, which usually ends up burning anyway.

So, while the rest of my family is in the ocean or getting real tans, I can be found sitting in a beach chair, under an umbrella, fully engrossed in a book. Here's my list of romantic books to read this summer. Many of them I have read or plan to read this week at the beach on my vacation!

The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

If you're into sappy love stories like me, I would recommend reading anything by Nicholas Sparks, author of The Notebook, on the beach. The Choice is an intense love story and tearjerker which recently came out into a movie. I have read the book and seen the movie and have loved them both.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

I'm dying to read this book. One, because one of my closest friends just read it and said it was really good and I'm super jealous, and two, because it will be released in movie theaters on Jun. 3! If you haven't gotten a chance to watch the trailer, check it out:

This romantic novel even has a prequel, After You, which was recently released.

The Last Summer of You and Me by Ann BraShares

Ann BraShares, author of the The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants series, wrote The Last Summer of You and Me as her first novel intended for an adult audience. Based on the title, this novel sounds like a perfect book to read in the summer! I read it myself last year, so I can vouch for that.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

I stumbled across this book while browsing on Amazon. With over 3,000 reviews and a 4.5 star rating, I was curious as to what this novel was all about and was immediately drawn in by the description of this novel, which includes a musical aspect. The plot of Maybe Someday sounds like a classic love triangle, but based on the reviews, this novel seems to have had a lasting impact on young adults. This will definitely be the next book I order off of Amazon!

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

Giffin is tied with Sparks as my favorite author to read on the beach. Her novels are glamorous, comical, girly and romantic. Something Borrowed shows the power of love, friendships and the tough decisions we are faced with when the two don't go hand in hand. If you enjoy reading Something Borrowed, you can also watch the movie and read the prequel, Something Blue. Her new novel, First Comes Love, will be in stores on Jun. 28.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
