With the temperature transitioning from summer to fall, we tend to drop some habits that we developed over the summer that could actually be useful all-year round. It's important to note self-care routines because they are preventative measures for health problems that could arise in us if we don't keep track of our habits. Here are five routines that we should carry on from the summer into fall:
1. Staying Hydrated
Just because it's not as hot anymore does not mean that we shouldn't be drinking the same amount of water. Although you might not feel the need to drink as much water in the fall like you did in the summer because you're not as "thirsty" anymore, it's important to do so anyway. Decreasing your hydration could then lead to dry skin, hair, and lips during the winter. Who wants that? Stay Hydrated.
2. Staying Moisturized
Another common tendency is to stop moisturizing your legs and arms as we approach colder temperatures. This is because we wear long clothing in order to preserve heat. However, this shouldn't interfere with our moisturizing routines. If wearing lotion or other oils during the day is annoying due to the sticky clothing, then try moisturizing at night before you go to bed!
3. Humectant Face Masks
Humectant face masks are any face masks that deeply penetrate and hydrate our faces. This is necessary during fall and winter seasons because it helps to keep facial skin from hardening as it gets exposed to harsher winds and temperatures. Also, it hydrates the pores, which eventually delays your wrinkles if you do this on a daily basis.
4. Working Out
Fall is a season known for its changing leaves and transitioning schedules. As more people get settled into school and work, they become so consumed with their daily tasks that they forget to prioritize physical activity! The lack of exercise in physical activity is what leads to health problems and weight gain later down the road of life after having a stable job, raising a family, etc...So make sure you fit this in now so that you can minimize your chances of having this happen to you in the future.
5. Catching Fresh Air
Although the air may start to feel colder, it's important to still get some fresh air every day. It's also important to open your windows every once in a while because it allows for polluted air to leave and fresh air to enter your rooms. Even if it's for a minute, do it!
