Live Happy

Every year around this time, people begin to make New Years Resolutions. They tend to be general things like "go to the gym" or "eat healthy foods" and they're sadly usually abandoned sometime around February. That's why this year I wanted to find a few New Years Resolutions that I felt I and others could stick to.

1. Work on being more positive

Let's face it, sometimes things just suck, you have a tough day, school work is bogging you down and the end just seems to never be in sight. Even when things get hard, sometimes maintaining a positive outlook can make a world of difference. This year I want to work on that attitude, even when I'm having a sucky time.

2. Cut down on procrastination

Being real I know sometimes I'm still going to shove things to the last minute but my goal is to hopefully cut down on it at least a bit. Staying on top of my work will make my last semester of school easier in the long run. If you're in my position and need to crack down on your procrastination habits, try to vow to not put things off for at least half of your classes and then work forward from there.

3. Let go of negativity

There's no point brooding over the past and sometimes the best way to get over something is to allow yourself to let it go. More than once in 2016, I felt myself holding on to a lot of unnecessary negativity. Whether someone hurt you in the past or you did something that you're not proud of, give yourself permission to heal and move on. Do what you need to do, apologize, cry, scream, write it out. And then allow yourself to leave the past behind. You are not who you used to be.

4. More self-care

It's no secret that as college students we lead very busy lives, however, this doesn't mean that we have to neglect ourselves in the process. This year, try to take some time each week to do something that is calming and relaxing for you. It will help you to feel better and you can return to your hectic college life reenergized.

5. Lots of self-love

When life is crazy and things seem to be getting you down, self-love can be a very difficult thing to do. However, it is so important in having a healthy self-image and being at peace in life. This year I plan to find more and more ways to love myself so that I can continue to find the happiness I know I deserve. I hope that each and every single one of you will work on this as well!

A new year can seem scary but sometimes it's exactly what you need. Instead of looking at this year as a scary thing, think of all of the amazing things you can acheive in 2017 if you only set your mind to it!

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

In the 12 years since it went off the air, "Friends" continues to be adored by millions. 11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
