We all like to make these giant commitments to ourselves on every January 1st about something we would like to change during the year. We make this resolution mostly out of habit and tradition, but a lot of us are never able to keep it going for the whole year. For 2016, I challenge YOU to make a resolution and stick to it for at least a month. When you finish that month if your progress is going great then continue the resolution for another month and then so on. Some simple resolutions you can choose for 2016 are:
1. Get Fit
I know this is the most common and basic resolution for everyone, but sometimes we need it. We don't need to "get fit" to be skinny or have a 6 pack of abs. We should want to get fit to take care of ourselves and our body. Get fit because YOU are worth it.
2. Cut back on unhealthy habits
This is a very important resolution you can make to yourself. Whether it be a small or a large habit we can all cut back on something that can be toxic for us. Some examples of unhealthy habits to cut back on are: indulging in fast food everyday, smoking, drinking too much in one week, biting nails, texting your ex frequently, and especially drinking and driving. Habits are called habits because they are addicting and very hard to quit. You are going to want to give up. Don't.
3. Love Yourself
This year learn to love yourself more. Stop criticizing yourself and start praising yourself. Be supportive, and be loving to your negatives. Be kind to your mind. Take care of your body. Stop caring about others opinions because the only one that matters is yours. Love yourself this year!
4. Travel More
You only live one time. Are you really living if you stay in the same town all of your life? Go out and have an adventure in the world! At least one time this year go to a different city, state, or country. Learn about someone else's culture. There is so much to learn right outside your front door and you will never know and until you go.
5. Move on
Finally, move on. This is a personal one for me but I'm sure a lot of people can relate. Throughout a single year you will interact with approximately 80,000 new people. Within these 80,000 new people you will probably fall for at least one special person. But because it is not the right time or place, or maybe even the right person, it is not meant to be with that one special person. It can be hard to realize that know matter how much you like or love this person they are not meant to stay in your life and it is time to let go. So this year move on, because there are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.
