As tough 2016 has been, it is time to start thinking about the new year. In just a couple of days, we all get a chance to start anew. Forget all of the mistakes made in 2016, and focus on making the following year better.

We all have a list; a list of changes/goals that we believe we can commit to for the new year. Although it is all much easier said than done, we all give it a try, and who knows, some of the goals are actually completed.

Here are my resolutions for 2017:

1) School

After a very difficult first semester of college, I survived with a 3.7 GPA. Now that I have experienced college, I now know what to expect. I've picked up, and learned how to maintain good study habits. I plan to do better the following semester, and ending my freshman year with excellent grades.

2) Motivation

2016, despite it being a very sad year with many celebrity deaths, has been great to me. I've seen a significant change in my life, and learned from it. Without motivation, nothing will get done; that is what I've learned in 2016. So, in order to have a year of change and prosperity, I need to be motivated.

3) Health

Towards the end of 2016, I experienced an increase of motivation to better my physical health. Quickly, I've seen results on the hard work and training. Seeing the results, it only increased my motivation. Going into the new year, I will make it my goal to continue this journey to a healthy lifestyle.

4) Positivity

This one is very important. Life without positivity is not much a life anyway. A clean mind, with a positive outlook, can go a long way in terms of living a healthy life.

5) Try New Things

In 2017, I want to go out of my comfort-zone, and try new things. For example, I want to learn the guitar. I have always wanted to play guitar for many years, and I plan on taking the time this following year to learn.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

music sheet

Being a music major is not all kicks and giggles. In fact, there are days when I question my sanity and doubt myself as a musician. I know I am not the only one going through the struggle, and so here are 13 GIFs that I know my fellow music majors can relate to...

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?
