This time of year, everyone is thinking about what they want to come out of the year to come. People usually start discussing their set resolutions and resolutions they're thinking about committing too. The problem with this is, most people don't last more than two weeks of committing to their resolutions because they might have aimed too high, or realized that it's not really what they wanted. Here are five resolutions that you might be able to keep up with.
1. Start turning your 'Sorry's' into 'Thank you's'.
Instead of apologizing every time you're a little late, or can't attend something, start thanking the people for the invite. It's important to know and acknowledge a fault of yours, but it's a lot nicer to hear someone saying "Thank you" rather than "I'm sorry."
2. Spend more time doing what matters to you.
Stop trying to impress everybody, and do what you want to do. If you want to stay in bed all weekend and binge watch Netflix, go for it! Nobody's stopping you. Who cares if people say anything about it, their opinions don't matter. It's what you want to do, and what matters to you, and makes you happy.
3. Try paying with cash more and keeping your change.
If you go out in the beginning of the week with a certain amount of cash, tell yourself that's your 'fun money' for the week. When you get change back, put it in a jar or a box, it may slowly add up, but it does add up. Soon enough you'll be able to cash it in and get a good 50 bucks out of it!
4. Cut out the people that don't actually matter.
Yeah, yeah. I'm sure your friends back in high school were so great, and you always had a good time when you hung out with them. Just think, when was the last time you hung out with them? When was the last time they texted you first to check up on you, or try to make plans? If the effort is one sided, the friendship is over. Clear your life of the negativity, and make room for positive people.
5. Create less reasons to lie.
Do what you want! The world is yours, and nobody else's. If you're embarrassed about something so you lie about it, STOP. Embrace your life, embrace you interests so you don't have to lie about them. Be straight forward with everybody, you will feel so much better, both mentally and physically than you would if you made a resolution a diet.
These are just 5 out of many many realistic resolutions. Try to stay true to yourself, and have a Happy New Year!
