As nice as it is not having to do dishes or cook food while away at school, the dining hall gets old really fast. Before going out to eat, try one of these quick meals that you can easily make with the microwave in your room!

  1. French Toast in a Mug

What you’ll need:

A microwave safe mug

Cooking Spray or Butter

Chopped pieces of bread

Egg

Cinnamon (optional)

Vanilla Extract (optional)

Directions:

Spray/butter the mug

Whisk the eggs in a bowl

Drench the bread in the whisked eggs

Place bread in the mug

Add other ingredients

Place in microwave and cook for approx. 2 minutes (every microwave is different especially at school)

2. Egg Muffin

What you’ll need:

A microwave safe mug

Cooking Spray or Butter

Egg

Cheese

Bread, Bagel, or English Muffin

Directions:

Spray/Butter the Mug

Crack egg into the mug

Break the Yolk

Place in microwave for about a minute and a half or until the yolk cooks through

If toaster is available toast your choice of bread

If toaster is not available, get bread ready

Place egg on bread and then cheese on the egg

3. Chicken Fajitas

What you’ll need:

Microwave safe dish (with top)

Peppers

Onions

Chicken

Southwest Seasoning Spice Mix

Tortillas

Shredded Cheese

Directions:

Chop Onions and peppers if they are not already chopped

Cut chicken into strips

Place Onions, peppers, and chicken into dish

Season the ingredients in the dish

Cover and Cook in the microwave for 10 minutes on high

Once finished, place on tortilla and serve with cheese

4. Homemade Mac & Cheese

What you’ll need:

Microwave safe bowl/mug

Pasta

Milk

Water

Cheese

Directions:

Put water and Pasta into a bowl and microwave in 2-minute intervals until the pasta is fully cooked

Stir Milk and cheese in pasta

Microwave for 30 second intervals until the cheese is melted

5. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake

What you’ll need:

Microwave safe bowl/mug

Brown Sugar

Flour

Egg

Butter

Mini Chocolate Chips

Directions:

Crack open the egg into the mug

Add the brown sugar

Then add flour and butter

Add mini chocolate chips to the top

Stir with a spoon

Cook in the microwave for 1 ½ - 2 minutes or until the top cake center has set

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
