5 Reasons Your Dad is Better Than Any Boy

Sometimes it sucks to be young and single, especially when it seems like all of your friends are in relationships. And it can really suck when a boy breaks your heart and you decide to swear off men forever. But there's one guy who will never disappoint. Here's five ways your dad is better than any boy ever:

1. You value his opinion

And his opinion should be the only opinion coming from a man that you let dictate your decisions. Your dad is the only man who can tell you not to wear that skirt because it's too short, or not to go out with that boy because he's bad news. If your respect your dad, your respect his opinions about you and seek his approval, in the best way of course. He just wants what's best for you.

2. He'll always be there

Your dad isn't going to leave you because you texted another boy. He isn't going to leave because you got into a fight. He isn't going to give up because you live too far away. He's always going to be at your soccer games, dance performances, whatever it may. You're always going to be his little girl.

3. You have a special bond

Whatever you and you dad bond over, whether it be sports, television shows, board games, music, etc., no other relationship can ever compare. No boy, however great he may be, can replace the feeling you get baking cookies or playing a pick up basketball game with your dad. And something no guys other than dads are capable of, is making you feel better when you're sad because of a boy.

4. He's mature...sorta

Most likely (and hopefully), your dad isn't just obsessed with sex, beer, and his bros. Since he's an adult, he already knows what things are truly important in life. Sure he still tells his "dad jokes" and dances badly but he'll never blow you off for a night with his boys. And he's certainly not texting you and five other girls the same things (mostly because he can't really text, but also because he's an actual good guy). And he can actually give you good fatherly advice because he's probably already been through what you're currently going through.

5. He loves you more than any boy ever will

Even if a boy swears he loves you more than anyone, he probably still doesn't love you more than your dad does. He spent your whole life caring for you. He watched you grow from a baby to a young woman. He would do anything for you to be happy.

Thanks, Dad.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
