The 80s sound like they were an amazing time to be alive in. Granted, if I left the 21st century I would leave behind my electronics, my favorite television shows, and Netfllix, but I would also be gaining a lot. The 80s had great music, clothes, hairstyles, financial benefits, and less restrictions. I am a huge Star Wars fan. My favorite Star Wars movie, "Return of the Jedi" came out in 1983. The 80s also gave the pop culture world other great movies such as "The Breakfast Club," "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off," "E.T.," "The Goonies," and by far my favorite movie, "The Princess Bride." After all, without the 80s we wouldn't have skinny jeans, big hair, or "Hungry Like the Wolf." It would have also been interesting to be alive during the Lennon assassination, the start of Pac Man, and the fall of the Berlin wall. In detail here are my five reasons I wish I lived in the 80s.
1. The Music
During the 80s, great music was produced. Artists from Lionel Richie to Madonna contributed to the sound of the 80s. A few of my favorite songs from the 80s are, "Hello" by Lionel Richie, "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, "Material Girl" by Madonna, and "You Give Love A Bad Name" by Bon Jovi.
2. Financial Benefits
During the 80s, items for sale were cheaper than they are now. Gas was $1.25 and milk was $2.16 in the 80s. College was cheaper too. A private four-year college in the 80s cost $10,438 and in 2016, a private four-year college would cost $32,405. A public four-year college in the 80s cost $2,320 in 2016 we pay $9,410.*

3. Clothes
Some of the 80s clothing styles have made a reappearance in the 21st century, but not all of them. The 80s brought us awesome clothing items such as slogan t-shirts, miniskirts, scrunchies, washed jean jackets, acid-washed jeans, parachute pants, and swatch watches.
4. Hairstyles
A lot of people make fun of 80s hairstyles like the mullet or perms, but they're not all bad. The 80s also gave us, combed-back hair, high top fades, and mullets for the guys. Not everyone looks bad with a mullet. My dad had a tame mullet in the 80s and it wasn't terrible. Girls in the 80s had a lot more options for hair such as the side ponytail, crimped hair, feathered hair (Like Farrah Fawcett), the Madonna wrap up, the whale spout, and perms of course!
5. Safety
One of the biggest reasons why I would like to live in the 80s. The 80s seem like a safer time to live. People left their doors unlocked at night with no worry, kids could roam their neighborhood and town with no worry. The 80s to me seem more carefree than the 21st century.
Yes, the 21st century has Netflix, electronics, and advanced technology, but with everything I just listed, I think I could give it up.
