5 Reasons Why You're Basically Buddy The Elf During The Holidays

The movie "Elf" is by far an essential to the months of November and December (or the entire year). Everyone on the planet knows at least one quote from the movie, and true Christmas lovers can basically quote the whole movie. There's a little bit of Buddy the Elf in all of us, whether it's our extreme love of smiling or Santa, our inner Buddy the Elf definitely shows during the holiday season.

1. You think of alternative ways to get to the top of the tree.

Uhh of course I don't need a ladder, I can totally reach. We've all been there: claiming you can reach the top of the tree to put the star on. However, in reality, we all may need that running start to get to the top.

2. Your winter excitement begins very early.

As soon as Nov. 1 hits, Christmas spirit is in the air. Although we sometimes tend to forget we have another holiday before Christmas, it's hard to contain our excitement, especially when there's Tollhouse cookie dough involved.

3. You anticipate Santa's arrival -- no matter how old you are.

Let's be honest here -- no matter how old you get, you still get excited when you see Santa. Whether it's seeing him at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or at your local mall, you still get the same excitement realizing Christmas is on its way.

4. You blast Christmas music like it's your job.

One of the best parts of the holiday season is the Christmas music. Don't get me wrong -- Christmas music is awesome year-round. But, there's something about blasting all classic Christmas songs a few days leading up to Christmas (or the entire month) that really gets you in the holiday spirit.

5. You get so excited to spend time with family and friends.

Hands down, one of the best parts of the holidays is seeing your family and friends. From spending time with family you haven't seen in awhile to spending time with family and friends you see often, both are equally as special because you get to make memories and spend time with the people you love.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
