5 Reasons Why Your Significant Other Should Be Your Best Friend
Abigail Ormiston

Some people are incredibly lucky that their best friend and their significant other are the same person. Being able to share all your secrets with one person makes life more simple and easier. You can talk to them like one of your pals and not be afraid that they might judge you. Dating your best friend means you don't always have to act like a couple either, you can do silly things and not have a care in the world. It's a great thing to have someone not only care about you romantically but in all other aspects too. Dating someone who knows everything about is one of the best feelings in the world. Be thankful if you are given the chance to date your best friend.

In my case, I started dating my current boyfriend before we considered each other best friends. But as time went on, I realized he is my best friend as well as my boyfriend. I can tell him anything and I feel insanely comfortable around him.

I also firmly believe that people should be with someone they can consider their best friend

Here's a list of reasons why you should be with someone who is your best friend as well as your significant other.

1. You are never afraid they will judge you.

I know in my relationship I am not afraid he's going to judge me. He tries to understand what I'm going through even if he never experienced it himself. He loves my quirks and the weird things I do. When you're dating your best friend, you shouldn't be worried what they will think because you know how they will react.

2. You open up more because you are more comfortable.

Dating your best friend gives you a bigger support system than you ever imagined. You always have someone to talk to and lean on when you need it. Being more comfortable with your significant other gives you a sense of safety. You feel like you can spill out your hopes, dreams, fears and thoughts. You feel like you can tell them anything.

3. You enjoy the days where you stay in and binge watch movies more.

These days are my favorite. I love being able to just cuddle up with my boyfriend on the couch and have a movie marathon. It's comforting because we can just spend the entire day relaxing without a care in the world. These days are cherished more because we don't need to go out or doing anything fancy to have a good time.

4. You have more inside jokes than the average couple.

Every couple has their inside jokes, but when you're dating your best friend you have about 100 times more. You have more of a reason to laugh, more of a reason to enjoy your time. And your inside jokes will always there between you two.You can make jokes about pretty much anything.

5. You can communicate without words.

This is completely true, including with my own relationship. We can give each other looks and know exactly what is being said. Sound effects are also used, but no words. You can communicate by body language too. You know exactly what's going through each others minds without saying a single word.

Dating your best friend is a gift. It is an amazing experience and you always have a fun time. You can be as open as you want, and as goofy as you want. So continue to make your inside jokes, and spend as many days as you like cuddling and having movie marathons while communicating without using words because they will ever judge you or make you feel unimportant because well, they are your best friend and your significant other.

I have never felt so secure before dating someone who is my best friend. I'm thankful I have met someone that is my best friend and that cares about me on so many levels. I can tell him anything and feel like I can be as silly as I want to with him.

I hope everyone gets the chance to end up with their best friend.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
