5 Reasons You Should Never Visit London

London? Seriously.

5 Reasons You Should Never Visit London

Listen, I know we don't know each other well, but I need you to take my advice on this one: don't ever visit London, England. I know it's tempting; I know you've heard good things. But seriously, it's not worth it. Do you know why? Because you might accidentally leave your heart there. You might accidentally fall completely and irrevocably in love with the buildings and the culture and the people. You might never want to leave.

The food.

Stay away from this city if you do not like fresh fish, engulfed in a light gold, crispy batter served with a side of chips and a light whipped mayo for your dipping sauce. I am serious, this meal is everywhere it can and will take over your life no matter if you are at the pub or a street market, this will be on the menu. This dish is your enemy, but as they say keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

.... a Bridge?

You are telling me we came all the way to Europe to see a bridge? All it does is open for boats and barges, and light up majestically at the night hour, create an ambience for perfect Instagram photos, and looks like it came straight from a fairytale book....big whoop, Oh yeah, and you can take a tour inside of the bridge peering underneath you because parts of the floor are made of pure glass, but that isn't a big deal either. *eye roll*

Tall, pointy architecture, surrounded by a body of water.

Big Ben is essentially the same as the watch on my wrist, right? It sets directly in the heart of London, right across from the London eye. Big Ben is apart of the English parliamentary, with an exquisite architectural design. More than 400 designs were submitted by more than 90 architects to create this look. So, I guess it took some time to decide on how to design this little guy, and this is what was decided, thanks Charles Barry.

Mediocre homes.

I guess this house is sort of big. I mean, there's an elegant gate surrounding the premise and serious looking guards posted all around. Also, whats up with the flag disappearing and reappearing...is this some kind of magic house? If this was my house, I'd keep the flag up year round and I would at least have a flower pot or a door mat...but to each his own. When I was there, I saw the sweetest looking old lady go inside...Everyone was going nuts but I was just wondering if she may have been lost or something. Who lives here anyway?

Your typical circular tourist attraction.

Wow. I mean, if you're into being able to see all of the city from atop of one of the world's largest Ferris wheels, then go for it. Also, be aware that it will be lit up at night as well as everything around it. Vendors are bustling underneath you and crowds of people that look like tiny ants. Oh, and if you go during the winter time, there's a huge luxurious ice skating rink set up underneath it, but it's like, casual.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
