Reasons Why You Should Get Involved With Charities And Non-Profit Organizations
CNBC

There are so many charities and organizations all over the world that are so easy to become involved with. Whether you are donating to the cause or are starting the organization, every single effort counts for so much. Making the slightest difference in the lives of others can mean a world of change. Sometimes it can be hard to choose because there are so many different types of organizations to fun whether they be for a disease or other causes. Luckily, you don't have to contribute to just one.

Charity is a huge step towards improving your well-being.

Giving can go a long way. The feeling someone can get by helping someone else in just the slightest way can improve your own life and attitude. A few dollars, a day spent towards a cause or even a simple hug to someone who needs it can bring along so much individual satisfaction. Who knows? Maybe you made such a positive impact on someone's life that their own life improves. Imagine sacrificing your time to simply cheer up the life of a child with a life-threatening disease or even a homeless person. Your time can put a smile on their face and a whole lot of love in your heart.

Volunteering for a cause can bring you life-long friends who you may not have ever met if you hadn't become involved.

There are quite a few organizations that I have donated to and have participated in within my own lifetime. If I had never become a part of the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) then I wouldn't have met so many great people who fight the same fight as my own sister. If I had never donated to the CT Challenge or Tour de Cure then I wouldn't have impacted the lives of many people with diabetes or survivors of cancer. By supporting one person who is involved in any organization, you are supporting an entire community of people just like them.

Setting an example for others can spread the joy and love of the charity and non-profit community.

In today's times, it is so important to set a great example for the generations to come. Involving yourself in positive experiences and impacting other people's lives can spread the joyous dedication to many others willing to help a cause.

You can save a life.

Due to the fact that there are so many charities in existence that have grown to be so effective, even just a small donation can go so far. Obviously, the more people who donate to a cause, the more people who will be impacted. Even a donation of $3 can save the life of an individual who is threatened with malaria by providing them with a net for their bed. About $25 can be contributed to a surgery someone needs in order to survive.

There are so many charities to choose from, so here are just a few of my personal favorites.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
